Curtain Membrane (MBR)Equipment

Curtain Membrane (MBR) Equipment – Submerged Flat-Sheet Membrane Module
This curtain-type membrane, also known as a flat-sheet MBR (Membrane Bioreactor) module, consists of thin membrane panels arranged in a cassette and submerged directly into a bioreactor tank. Coarse-bubble aeration continuously scours the membrane surface to reduce fouling, while permeate is drawn through the membrane and out via a header pipe, producing high-quality, particle-free effluent suitable for reuse or discharge.
Key Features:
  • Flat-sheet "curtain" design closely spaced membrane panels maximize filtration area in a compact tank footprint
  • Submerged configuration eliminates the need for external cross-flow pumping, reducing energy use
  • Continuous coarse-bubble aeration scours membrane surfaces, controlling fouling and extending membrane life
  • Produces high-quality permeate low turbidity, free of suspended solids and pathogens
  • Modular cassette design allows easy scale-up by adding additional membrane units
  • Simple maintenance access cassettes can be lifted out for cleaning or inspection without draining the entire tank
  • Compatible with municipal and industrial wastewater treatment, and water reuse/recycling systems
  • Durable PVDF or PES membrane material resists chemical cleaning (NaOCl, citric acid) for long-term reliability
